Whenever an athlete gets injured, it’s always a sad moment. But the latest injury to Derrick Rose is definitely a crushing blow to the Chicago Bulls and the league.
According to ESPN, Derrick Rose had said he was experiencing some pain in his right knee early Tuesday. By the end of the day in Chicago, it was announced that Rose had a torn meniscus and will need surgery.
Rose is one of my favorite players in the league, and I was excited to see him start to regain his form. When he was trying out for Team USA last year, you could see the flashes of the old Rose. When people complained that Rose was trying to be cautious and preserve his body to avoid another injury early this season, fans got upset. I sure hope that Rose didn’t push it too hard to please others and that’s what led to this injury.
On the bright side, it’s only a meniscus tear and he can be back in a matter of weeks or a couple months, but this season is done. That’s actually the good news for Rose and the Bulls. However, the reality of the situation is, “how much longer will his knees hold up?”
Those around the league took to Twitter to express their sympathy for the former MVP. How can you not like a guy with that much talent, play the game the way it should be played and has always remained humble?
Get well soon and rest up, Derrick.
Damn man, I hate that…get healthy D! Praying for you.
