Glossary Of Boxing Terms, Lingo & Slang

This is a list of common boxing lingo and jargon terms.

Boxing is one of the oldest sports, with the earliest signs of the sport going back to Iraq in the 3rd millennium B.C. It is a combat sport that requires two opponents, to square off in a ring for a predetermined amount of time. Although the earlier boxing matches did not require gloves, the more modern and sanctioned fights require boxers to wear gloves.

With the sport dating back thousands of years, the list of boxing terms have progressively grown to describe the different aspects of the sport. Below is a comprehensive list of boxing terms to help educate the fight fans of all levels.
