What Is The Definition Of Pow Wow In Baseball?
1. A pow wow in baseball refers to when the manager has a meeting on the mound with the pitcher and the infielders. It is very rare to have the outfielders run in to meet as well. The manager and the players will discuss how to pitch to the batter, or how to defensively strategize.
The term’s original meeting is a reference to social gatherings conducted by indigenous Native Americans. This term is rarely used, if at all, now to describe any meeting at the mound due to it being offensive and insulting to Native Americans.
