Chip Kelly May Trade Up To Draft Oregon’s Marcus Mariota

Could Marcus Mariota go from playing for one bird to another?

Chip Kelly May Trade Up To Draft Oregon's Marcus Mariota

If Chip Kelly has anything to say about it, he’ll make sure Mariota plays for the Philadelphia Eagles next year.

Kelly has proved that his offensive scheme can work and succeed in the NFL and what better prospect could he draft than the guy who won the Heisman running a similar offense. According to NJ.com, Kelly is going to try hard to draft Mariota in this year’s draft. The only problem is that it may cost the Eagles A LOT.

Kelly, who coached Mariota for his first two years in college, has always thought highly of him. The question is how much does he think the rookie is worth?

With the Eagles currently picking at number 20, they’re going to have to find the perfect package to get into at least the top three picks. Scenarios that have been thrown out there is the Eagles giving up all their picks or packaging multiple future first round picks.

It’s not set in stone that the team will move forward on the trade, but I’m sure they’ll try hard now that Kelly is in charge of all personnel matters. It’s a super risky move and gamble to take on a player who didn’t do so hot against Ohio State.

They may just have to stick with Nick Foles (not Mark Sanchez) and use the picks to bolster up their defense some more. As cool as it would be to see them reunite, I don’t think Mariota is a sure NFL star who’s worth that many picks.
