You knew Derek Jeter’s last game at Yankees Stadium was going to memorable. You just didn’t know how.
The future Hall of Fame shortstop ended his last game at Yankees Stadium the only way he knew how: with a game-winning hit.
Coming up in the bottom of the ninth, with just one out against the Baltimore Orioles, the Yankees captain hit the game-winner in classic Jeter style… with a drive into right field. His 3,463rd hit drove in the winning run, giving the Yankees a 6-5 win. The win also marked the 1,627th regular season victory with Jeter in a Yankees uniform.
Congratulations, Jeter on a remarkable 20-year career. We all can’t wait to see you inducted in the Hall of Fame on your first ballot.
