VIDEO: Kobe Bryant Passes Michael Jordan On All-Time Scoring List

Brace Hemmelgarn/USA TODAY Sports

After coming up short against the San Antonio Spurs, Kobe Bryant passed Michael Jordan on the all-time scoring list to stand alone at number three on the hierarchy.

With 5:24 left in the first half against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Bryant went to the free throw line to tie and then pass Jordan for third place on the scoring list. Jordan previously held the third place spot with 32,292 points before he was surpassed by Jordan. Only Karl Malone, in second place, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar, in first, stand in Kobe’s way for the all time record.

Many congratulated Bryant on his accomplishment, including the Timerwolves team, their fans and even another Lakers great.

Congratulations Kobe Bean Bryant. Now it’s time to continue to chase Jordan for his number of championships.

Congrats to @kobebryant on passing his idol Michael Jordan for 3rd on the NBA All-Time scoring list!
