Philadelphia’s worst nightmare has come true.
MVP candidate Carson Wentz will be lost for the season after tearing his ACL on Sunday versus the Los Angeles Rams.
Doug Pederson: #Eagles QB Carson Wentz has a torn ACL. His season is over.

Wentz, who dove into the end zone yesterday, was hit hard and sandwiched between two defenders. He stayed on the ground for a minute, but got up and threw a touchdown pass on the next possession. His 33rd touchdown pass is a new Eagles single season record.
During the press conference on Monday morning, Head Coach Doug Pederson believes Wentz may have torn his ACL before the hit. Regardless of when it actually occurred, the Eagles are now without their most indispensable player after already suffering losses in other key positions.

The Eagles will now rely on veteran Nick Foles, who helped lead the team to victory after being down in the fourth quarter to the Rams.
Wentz, who was chosen second overall last year, was having an MVP caliber year. He’ll finish the year with 3,296 yards passing, 33 touchdowns and 101.9 quarterback rating.
