Lonzo Ball Has Torn Meniscus. How His Injury Impacts Pursuit Of LeBron & Kawhi

The future of the Los Angeles Lakers falls on Lonzo Ball’s knee. Literally.

Lonzo Ball Has Torn Meniscus. How His Injury Impacts Pursuit Of LeBron & Kawhi

With the Lakers being the front-runners to land both LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard, the Lakers hope that the recent news of Ball’s torn meniscus will not deter any free agent signings or hurt their chance of a trade.

The news of Ball’s knee injury came today, announcing that the number two pick in last year’s draft will need surgery to repair the meniscus. However, Ball should be ready by the start of the season.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball has a torn meniscus in his left knee, league sources tell Yahoo. Ball is expected to be ready for training camp next season.

It should be interesting to see how Ball’s injury will affect the market. Today, James announced that he would not pick up the option on the final year of his contract with Cleveland, therefore making him a free agent. In addition, it’s been known all along that Leonard wants to play for the Lakers. Something that can only happen if the San Antonio Spurs are able to work out a trade with LA.

However, Ball’s health is crucial because he is one of the Lakers’ most desirable assets. Ball can either be used as a piece that would play alongside James, and run the point. A pass-first point guard who is extremely intelligent and can distribute the ball. The same qualities that may interest the Spurs, who may require the Lakers to include in a trade package for Leonard.

Luckily, with NBA free agency set to start on July 1, teams and fans won’t have to wait much longer.
