The Houston Astros are World Champions.

For the first time in their 55-year history, the Astros beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in one of the most dramatic World Series in history, going the full seven games to decide the winner.

The star of the Series was the Astros’ centerfield, George Springer. The former UConn product tied a World Series record with five home runs, with four coming in the last four games. The four consecutive games with a dinger and his 29 total basesis are both World Series records that he can call his own.

Springer’s final stat-line for the World Series: .379 average, seven RBIs, eight runs and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

MVP worthy.

It seemed that even if Springer made a mistake or played poorly, made up for it.

In game 1, he struck out four times, only to follow-up with his record hitting performance from that moment on. In Game 5, his costly dive in centerfield gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead… but not for long. Springer followed it up with a home run within minutes of the gaffe.

The Series win comes at the best time for the city of Houston.

Just nine-weeks earlier, the city was devastated by Hurricane Harvey. This win was not only for the Astros, but for the city that the team holds so close to their chest with the patch “Houston Strong” over their heart.

The timing was perfect. Congratulation to the Astros, and congratulations to Houston.
