For the second time in three years, the Stanley Cup will make its home in sunny Los Angeles, California.
The LA Kings defeated the New York Rangers in an exciting double overtime game, 3-2. Alec Martinez put the winning goal into the net, tapping in a rebound shot that sent the Staples Center into a frenzy at 14:43 of the second overtime.
Both teams fought hard and fast all the way to the end, with Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist doing everything he could to keep their Cup hopes alive with 48 saves. His Kings counterpart, Jonathan Quick stopped 28, which was enough to capture the win.
Congratulations, Los Angeles. You’re Kings of the NHL for another year.
