What Is The Definition Of No Ball In Cricket?
1. An illegal delivery that results in one extra run being awarded to the batting team’s score. The bowler must also deliver another ball and the batsman cannot be dismissed.
There are several situations in which a no ball is called:
- The bowler overstepping the popping crease (a front-foot no ball)
- There are more than two fielders (excluding the wicket-keeper) being positioned behind the square on the leg side
- Breaking the return crease in the delivery stride
- Bowling a beamer (a full toss above waist height);
- Throwing (straightening the arm during the delivery), rather than bowling.
