Floyd Mayweather To Come Out Of Retirement Next Year

Jayne Kamin-Oncea/USA TODAY Sports

In a simple post, Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced that he’s coming back.

In an Instagram posted to his official account late Thursday, Mayweather announced that he’s “coming out of retirement in 2020”.

The post increased the hype after Mayweather had also posted another picture right before, this time with himself and Dana White, saying that the two were “working together again to bring the world another spectacular event in 2020.”

However, what exactly that spectacular event will be has yet to be seen or told. Fans and critics alike have been wanting to see Mayweather rematch notable opponents Conor McGregor and Manny Pacquiao, but no hints have been revealed. Mayweather had even said in the past that he’d be willing to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov, the reigning UFC Lighweight Champion.

This announcement could also just be a publicity stunt, as Mayweather has stated in the past he’s retired for good, despite coming out of retirement once before to fight McGregor in 2017. Perhaps the event he’s working on is a collaboration between his brand and MMA, which he’s stated he wanted to get more into.

Until then, the world will have to wait and see if he’ll risk putting his 50-0 to risk.
