What Is The Definition Of Bad Ice In Hockey?
1. Bad ice on a hockey rink is used to describe the poor condition of the ice on the rink. Slushy or loose ice, chips, cracks or ice that has not been maintained properly are all terms used to describe bad ice conditions. If a rink is not maintained at the right temperature or has not been Zambonied in quite some time then the ice will turn “bad” and could affect the outcome of a game. For example, chipped ice could alter the path of a puck and because of this, the ice is Zambonied (or resurfaced) after every period.
