VIDEO: Giants Win The World Series, Bumgarner’s MVP Ceremony Gets Weird

October 29, 2014 By Nick A.

You know Kansas City Royals’ Alex Gordon is going to work on his cardio this offseason.

After all, things might have turned out different had Gordon been just a few steps faster after his deep drive to center field was bobbled. He could’ve tried to run it it all the way home to tie the game instead of holding up at third. Who knows. Maybe we’d be celebrating a different winner right now.

But Gordon was left stranded on third after Salvador Perez made the final out on a pop foul ball to Pablo Sandoval, giving the San Francisco Giants to their third World Series title in five years.

It was a great series, but it was Madison Bumgarner who shined above the rest, pitching the final innings of this Game 7 on his way to being named the World Series MVP.

Over the years, the winner of the MVP award is given a new Chevrolet to drive, and this year was no different… except for the presentation of the award.

Rikk Wilde, and executive for Chevrolet, made things just a tad bit awkward for everyone on that stage and even for those at home when he fumbled through his speech and note cards. For a second there, I thought the guy was gonna pass out from the anxiety he seemed to be experiencing.

I understand that speaking in front of a nationally televised audience can make anyone a tad nervous, but you’d think a man at his position at a major company could handle the pressure.

I’m gonna give Wilde the benefit of the doubt and hope he just had a tad too much coffee, soda or bag of sugar that made him so jittery.
