Dr. Dre Buys Tom Brady’s Chateau At A $40 Million Bargain

June 4, 2014 By Nick A.

I know what some of you are thinking. If Dr. Dre paid $40 million for the custom, eco-friendly home, what was the original price?

A whopping $50 million.

It didn’t take the new billionaire very long to start spending his billions. If you didn’t know, Dre sold Beats Electronics recently to Apple for $3 billion. And where to make your first big purchase than in a brand new mansion.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen built this house from scratch and just recently put the house on the market back in March. They bought the empty lot in Brentwood, California for $11.5 million back in 2008, then spent about $20 million to get the home built and furnished, according to Yahoo!.

So what did $40 million get Dr. Dre? The house, which was featured in Architectural Digest last year, is 14,000 square feet, has six bedrooms, a winding driveway that leads over a pond to a motor court and is made of different types of limestone to help give it an old European feel. Obviously that’s not all of it, I just don’t have the energy to write it all down.

Now don’t go thinking that Mr. Brady and Gisele designed this mansion on their own. They had the help of architect Richard Landry and interior designer Joan Behnke. Just in-case you wanted to build your own mansion, you now have their names.

I wonder how long it’ll be before Dre has Bentleys lining that cobblestone driveway and Beats speakers lining the walls.

To see more photos of the home, check out the slideshow on Architectural Digest.
